Hi there - welcome to The Skincare Connect! I am a 22 year old gal livin' in Vancouver who has a passion for all things skin. For me, skin care started out as a hobby: a way to release day-to-day stresses. But eventually it became a lifestyle, as I became more and more interested in the science behind skincare. I became frustrated upon knowing that many of my friends and family members purchased skincare products simply because they were attractively packaged, expensive, or sold by familiar brands. But these don't mean the product is high-quality! I knew that in order to buy effective (and cost-effective) products, I needed to do my own research. I had another problem: it was difficult to find accurate and trustworthy resources. I knew I wasn't the type of girl to blindly trust others; I wasn't the type to purchase products because they were heavily promoted by influencers, or because companies marketed them as "clinically proven." I wanted to know the best ingredients and products that were supported by research, and I knew that I needed to resort to scholarly resources for non-biased information. Through this blog, I hope to connect with all of you regarding my personal beauty tips & reviews, as well as products that I am trying/enjoy. Aside from my review posts, I will present information on skincare ingredients, extracted only from published, scholarly sources such as books and journal articles by researchers. I will explain scientific information in an easy-to-understand manner for those who don't necessarily have a background in science. My goal is education and awareness, and I hope that the information on my blog can help you make effective choices about the products that you apply to your skin. Fun facts about me:
